Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Queen Camilla Makes Naval History

Caption: Queen Camilla Makes Naval History. Queen Camilla became the first woman and only the second royal to be named Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom. She was honoured at Devonport while joining HMS Astute’s crew to mark the end of its 15-year service. As HMS Astute’s sponsor since 2007, Queen Camilla has stayed close to the crew, often sending letters and gifts during deployments. At the decommissioning ceremony, she inspected the Royal Guard, met former commanders, and watched the flags lowered. The crew honoured her with the traditional 'Cheer Ship’, showing deep appreciation for her dedication. Rear Admiral Andy Perks presented Queen Camilla with a burgee, symbolising her new Vice Admiral status. At HMS Drake, she attended a garden party, met crew families, and praised their sacrifices and resilience. Marking her 78th birthday, the crew gave the Queen a clingfilm dispenser—a playful nod to an ingenious on-board repair. Queen Camilla sponsors HMS Prince of Wales and is Commodore-in-Chief of RN Medical and Chaplaincy Services. Her promotion highlights her longstanding commitment and significant contribution to the Royal Navy community. Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
