During an interview for the Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, the actor revealed that he has been taking a GLP-1 medication for weight loss. ”I'm on a GLP-1... this is the first time I've opened up about this," he told host Dax Shepard. "It has suppressed, in a great way, that noise... when I wake up, I feel hunger pains - and so much of that is psychological - and what this does is it takes away that signal.” Josh didn't name the GLP-1 drug has had been taking, though popular brands include Ozempic and Mounjaro. The Frozen star went on to note that he lost 40 pounds on a different drug but had to switch to another medication after it caused him to get diverticulitis, or inflammation of the pockets on the inside of the colon. ”I was really bummed out because it was working incredibly for me and I had to switch," the 43-year-old continued "So, like, I'm you know figuring out this new one, and it is life-changing, but it also doesn't negate the fact that it can't be in the place of having a healthy relationship with food. It can't be in the place of having a healthy relationship with exercise.” And when Dax asked whether he was prepared to speak on the topic further, Josh insisted he was "really happy" to discuss his experiences. ”I'm having my own journey with it. Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating myself by doing this," he said. Before describing how his wife Ida Darvish isn't convinced that Josh is tackling the core issue influencing his weight gain. The couple, who wed in 2008, share daughters Ava, 14, and Isabella, 10. ”I've always been the funny fat guy. Can I be the funny skinny guy? Can I be the hot leading man? I don't know that people would accept me as those things... I'm not as worried about that because my primary goal is, I want to be there for my kids.
