The merger is also facing an antitrust challenge from California and 11 other states, as well as opposition from the Writers Guild of America, with a federal trial scheduled for March 2027. Paramount said it plans to invest heavily in production, although it has not guaranteed that spending would remain concentrated in Los Angeles. The report adds to concerns that the proposed merger could accelerate Hollywood's shift away from L.A., threatening not only studio jobs but also the wider network of businesses and workers.
