Caption: India Decides Whether to Send Air India Flight Recorders Abroad for Analysis. India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is yet to determine whether the flight data and cockpit voice recorders from last week's tragic Air India crash will be sent overseas for analysis. The crash, which killed at least 270 people, occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport, with the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner heading to London. While some reports suggested the black boxes were being sent abroad, India’s civil aviation ministry clarified that no final decision had been made. The AAIB will assess technical, safety, and security factors before deciding on the location for analysis. Both the flight data and cockpit voice recorders were recovered from the crash site on June 13 and 16. However, reports indicate that the recorders may have been damaged by fire, complicating the data extraction process. Captain Kishore Chinta, a former AAIB investigator, shared that one recorder might be sent to the US for comparison with data downloaded in India.
