Caption: Robbie Williams confirms snubbing King Charles III. The British singer has confirmed that he turned down an invite to perform at the King's coronation. A huge concert was organised to commemorate the coronation of the British monarch in May 2023 with Paloma Faith, Olly Murs, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie among the stars that did perform for the King. But 50-year-old Williams could not join in the fun as he was already booked to perform elsewhere - missing out on singing to an audience of 12.3 million in the UK alone. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live this week, Robbie was confronted about his absence in the iconic ceremony. ”I was working. I got something I couldn't turn down because of money.” While fans may expect stars to receive payment for performing at the royal event, previous reports revealed that the likes of Perry and Richie performed for free. Following the ceremony, reports even revealed that the stars taking part paid for their own travel to the event - with a global spotlight deduced to be worth the cost of flights for the stars. While Williams didn't take part in the 2023 ceremony, he did previously take a central role as the opening act at the 2012 diamond jubilee concert in honour of then-Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace which had been organised by his Take That bandmate, Gary Barlow.
