Stanley Park, a historic Gloucestershire home with a ballroom, cinema and a wine cellar capable of holding about 4,000 bottles, was rented for about a year in the period before Oasis’s reunion tour, according to estate agents DDRE Global. Dating from 1584, the house is one of the region’s most significant historic properties and has longstanding links with the Marling family. It was extensively rebuilt in 1850 and enlarged again in 1870 for Sir Samuel Stephens Marling, who later became the 1st Baronet of Stanley Park and Sedbury Park. The estate also received a royal visitor during the Second World War. In 1941, Queen Mary toured the house and gardens before taking afternoon tea with Lady Beatrice Marling. More recently, Stanley Park has undergone an eight-year restoration, combining the preservation of its historic features with contemporary interiors and leisure facilities. Its big claim to fame, however, is the temporary home of one of Britain's best-known rock stars in the run-up to Oasis's return to the stage last year. The star and brother Noel reportedly earned tens of millions of pounds from the tour, which grossed as much as £400 million. He reportedly rented the mansion in the run-up to the tour, before buying another home nearby in the Cotswolds following the tour, according to The Sun newspaper. Stanley Park’s Gothic-arched entrance porch leads into a reception hall featuring an original stone fireplace, carved timberwork, decorative arches, plasterwork and mullioned windows. The principal rooms include a library, sitting room and panelled billiard room, while a stained-glass skylight leads towards the property's ballroom. The ballroom is one of the house's most striking features, with views across the River Severn towards the Black Mountains. Elsewhere, a west-facing drawing room opens onto a large terrace, while an original spiral staircase retains its Victorian tiled finish. The lower ground floor has been transformed into an entertainment and leisure area, with underfloor heating beneath flagstone floors. It includes a large kitchen, sitting room with a log burner, dining space and cinema, as well as the original wine cellar. There is also a fitness studio, sauna, shower room, professional chef's kitchen and laundry facilities. The house has a principal bedroom suite with a dressing room featuring a central island and a starlit ceiling, alongside four further bedrooms on the first floor. A further six bedrooms are on the top floor, providing space for family, guests or live-in staff. Outside, the property stands in about 2.5 acres of private gardens, with mature planting, lawns and terraces designed for outdoor dining and entertaining. It is on the market with DDRE, with a listed price of £4.7 million.
