Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Ukraine Reports 'Massive' Russian Attack on Energy Infrastructure

Caption: Ukraine Reports ‘Massive’ Russian Attack on Energy Infrastructure. Ukraine said Russia launched a “massive attack” on its energy infrastructure early Friday, leaving parts of Kyiv without power. The strikes are part of Moscow’s renewed campaign to deprive Ukrainians of heat and electricity ahead of winter. President Volodymyr Zelensky called the assault “a cynical and calculated attack,” involving over 450 drones and 30 missiles. Russia’s main targets were civilian and energy facilities, aiming to leave Ukrainians “in darkness, without water and heat,” officials said. Power outages hit 28,000 families near Kyiv and more than 16,500 homes and 800 businesses in the Poltava region. A 7-year-old boy was killed and dozens injured in Zaporizhzhia, while cities including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro reported widespread damage. Ukraine’s energy ministry said crews are working urgently to restore power, as fires and infrastructure damage continue to disrupt services. DTEK Group, Ukraine’s largest private energy producer, confirmed its plants were hit for the third time in a week, injuring one worker and severely damaging equipment.
