Headline: RAW VIDEO: Camera Prints Poems About Subjects Instead Of Capturing Photos

Caption: In a world dominated by screens, a new invention is offering a refreshing return to the tactile joy of paper and ink, with a futuristic twist. The Poetry Camera combines the charm of a classic instant camera with the cutting-edge power of AI to write poems about the people, objects, and surroundings it photographs. The design of the Poetry Camera is an endearing mix of old and new. With its large, protruding camera lens, the boxy frame seems almost comical at first glance. However, there’s something undeniably nostalgic about it – especially when it starts printing out poems on receipt-like paper instead of displaying them on a screen. The device features a sizeable shutter button and a viewfinder, reinforcing its throwback appeal. The brains behind the inventive device is Claude 4, an AI language model from Anthropic. It’s thanks to this sophisticated system that the Poetry Camera can generate poems almost instantly, using literary language that would make even the most seasoned poet envious. Users have the option to choose from a variety of poetic forms, including haikus, sonnets, limericks, alliterations, and free verse. However, there’s a catch: the device doesn’t store your photos or poems digitally. The only copy you’ll have of your poetic masterpiece is the one printed on the receipt-like paper, adding an element of impermanence that harkens back to a time when memories were captured in physical form. The duo behind the innovative creation, Kelin Zhang and Ryan Mather, are the masterminds behind the Poetry Camera. Operating out of a “microfactory” in New York, they hand-assemble each device, taking care to add their personal touch to every unit. But it’s not all smooth sailing – there’s a critical requirement for the device to function. The Poetry Camera relies on WiFi to work its magic. The AI model that generates the poems depends on an internet connection to function, and without it, the device can’t begin creating verse. Fortunately, the team assures customers that the Poetry Camera does not train the AI model on their personal data. As they put it: “We care to pick reputable AI model providers that do not train on your data.” Ryan Mather explains that the device encourages users to “slow down and appreciate the world around you,” adding that “it’s kind of like how people tend to prefer the book version of a movie more than the movie version because their memories and imagination feel more personal and special.” The Poetry Camera is available to pre-order via https://poetry.camera for $699, with units expected to ship this September.
