Headline: Red Arrows Fly Over Rome For Royal State Visit
Caption: Jets from the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, performed a flypast over Rome to mark the State Visit to Italy of Their Majesties King Charles and Queen Camilla. The Red Arrows shared the skies with their Italian counterparts, the Frecce Tricolori, over the capital city for the spectacular event. The rare joint flypast celebrated the strong bilateral relationship between the UK and Italy. As NATO allies, the countries share common defence interests, collaborating on initiatives such as the Global Combat Air Programme. The Red Arrows are currently preparing for their new display season, which begins in May, with dozens of shows planned across the UK and mainland Europe. Officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows showcase the excellence of the RAF and represent the United Kingdom both at home and overseas. The team consists of pilots and more than 100 highly-trained support personnel. Each of the pilots has previous fast-jet, operational experience flying the Tornado, Typhoon or Harrier, enabling the RAF to secure the skies and protect the nation and its interests, 365-days a year. The team is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire.
