Caption: France Bans Israel’s Ben-Gvir After Gaza Flotilla Controversy. Itamar Ben-Gvir has been banned from entering France following his treatment of activists detained from a Gaza-bound flotilla. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said the decision followed Ben-Gvir’s “unacceptable actions” toward European citizens aboard the Global Sumud flotilla. The far-right Israeli minister sparked outrage after posting footage showing detained activists kneeling with their hands tied behind their backs. Activists later alleged they were beaten, threatened with tasers and intimidated with attack dogs while in Israeli custody. Israel denied the accusations, calling claims of mistreatment “false and entirely without factual basis.” Barrot also urged the European Union to impose wider sanctions on Ben-Gvir. Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka said he would block any EU sanctions against Israeli ministers, which require unanimous approval. Ben-Gvir was already sanctioned last year by the UK, Canada, Australia, Norway and New Zealand over alleged incitement of violence against Palestinians.
