Headline: RAW VIDEO: Kīlauea Erupts Again In Hawaii
Caption: Episode 9 of the ongoing eruption at Halemaʻumaʻu, located at the summit of Kīlauea volcano in Hawaii, began at 10:16 am HST on 11 February. Lava is fountaining from the northern vent, sending flows onto the crater floor within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Each fountaining episode of this eruption has varied in duration, lasting anywhere from a few hours to more than a week. Officials have warned of potential hazards, including volcanic gas emissions and windblown volcanic glass, known as Pele’s Hair, which could affect Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park and surrounding communities. By the evening of 11 February 2025, lava fountains at Halemaʻumaʻu had reduced in height compared to the morning, when Episode 9 first began. At around 8:15 pm HST, fountains from the northern vent were reaching heights of 160 to 200 feet (50 to 60 metres), while those from the bifurcated southern vent were lower, measuring between 80 and 100 feet (25 to 30 metres). Authorities continue to monitor the eruption closely.
