Firefighters were called to the scene and used a crane to remove the car from the historic steps. The Spanish Steps, constructed in the 1720s, are among Rome's litany of famous landmarks. However, they are usually only used by pedestrians. A similar scene - in which a Fiat 500 driven by Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell's characters Ethan Hunt and Grace tumbled down the steps played out in the 2023 film Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning. However, the real steps were not used for the scene as a replica was built on a back lot.
