At the prizegiving held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, the rapper was presented with two of the top gongs - Record of the Year and Song of the Year - for his song, Not Like Us. The diss track also scooped Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. And during his acceptance speech for the Record of the Year, Kendrick took a moment to honour the city of Los Angeles in the wake of the devastating wildfires. ”We gonna dedicate this one to the city, Compton, Watts, Long Beach, Inglewood, Hollywood, out to the Valley,” "This is my neck of the woods that held me down since I was a young pup. I can't give enough thanks to these places that I rode around since high school. Most importantly, the people and the families out in the Palisades and Altadena, this is a true testament that we can continue to restore this city.” Meanwhile, Beyoncé won Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter and Chappell Roan was named Best New Artist. The star-studded audience was treated to performances by a who's who of the music biz including standout turns by Grammy nominee Shaboozey, who performed his hit A Bar Song (Tipsy), Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars who sang a pared-down cover of The Mamas & the Papas' 1965 hit California Dreamin’; Sabrina Carpenter, who showcased a perky medley featuring Espresso and Please Please Please; and The Weeknd, who has been boycotting the ceremony since 2021.
