Caption: Carlo Ancelotti Given One-Year Prison Sentence and €386,000 Fine Over Tax Fraud. Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil's current coach and former Real Madrid manager, has been fined €386,000 and sentenced to one year in prison for tax fraud. Ancelotti was convicted of defrauding Spain’s tax office of over €1 million in undeclared earnings from his image rights in 2014 and 2015. The court ruled that Ancelotti used shell companies outside Spain to conceal the real beneficiary of his image rights income. Despite the prison sentence, Ancelotti will not serve time, as non-violent, first-time offenders with sentences under two years are rarely imprisoned under Spanish law. Ancelotti admitted he thought his financial affairs were in order, denying any intent to commit fraud. The court cleared Ancelotti of charges related to his 2015 income but convicted him for tax evasion related to 2014. Ancelotti’s case follows a pattern of high-profile football figures targeted by Spain’s tax authorities, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and José Mourinho. Messi and his father were sentenced to 21 months in prison for tax evasion on image rights, while Ronaldo and Mourinho both faced financial penalties for similar offenses. Atlético Madrid's Diego Costa also paid a fine for tax fraud after failing to declare earnings from his 2014 move to Chelsea.
