The unrest began at around 6 p.m., with groups throwing stones at police, setting fire to rubbish bins, erecting barricades and smashing shop windows. 15 police officers were injured during the clashes, while around 14 shops were looted, according to Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia. Catalan police reported that 72 of those arrested were minors, representing more than half of the total, while four of the 15 injured officers were seriously hurt. The incidents also caused damage to public infrastructure, including street furniture and bus shelters, while transport services near Plaça de Catalunya were temporarily disrupted. Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni and Catalan President Salvador Illa condemned the violence, while pledging legal action against those responsible. Authorities stressed that the unrest was separate from the ongoing housing-rights encampment in Plaça de Catalunya, as police continue investigating the incidents.
