Caption: Lily Allen admits she could be 'quite mean' before she got sober. The British hitmaker has reflected on how she has changed more than five years into her sobriety journey. In a new interview with Grazia alongside her Miss Me? podcast co-host and close friend Miquita Oliver, Lily explained she is a "completely different person" after giving up alcohol and drugs. The 39-year-old told the publication: ”I think I'm just a completely different person. When I was drinking and taking drugs, I could be quite mean.” "I spent the best part of my twenties being publicly humiliated and vilified the whole time and sort of having to absorb all of that.” "And I think when I drank and when I took drugs, it was like, 'Now it's your turn. I'm going to turn it around on everyone else.’" Miquita showed her support for her friend by assuring her, "We were all a bit of a f**king mess then!”. The interview comes shortly after it was reported that Lily had checked into a trauma clinic following the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour in December. The Not Fair hitmaker is also taking a break from her podcast, telling fans in a recent episode she had to "go away" because she wasn't "in a good place”. However, the mum-of-two assured listeners that she was not going to a drug rehab. She didn't reveal where she was going but noted that she was "not allowed (her) phone" there.
