Caption: Five ways to overcome ‘gymtimidation’. Going to the gym can be intimidating, especially if you are at the beginning of your fitness journey. Nearly one in three women admit that "intimidation at the gym" is one of the biggest barriers to joining a fitness space, according to research conducted by the Gym Group in 2022. Jade Imani, qualified PT with Insure4Sport, has shared her simple tips for getting fit with confidence. Start with a plan. Going to the gym without a plan can make the experience feel more daunting, and can leave you wandering around the gym trying to figure out what to do next. ”Write down your workout beforehand or use a beginner-friendly app. For example, plan a circuit of three simple exercises: squats, dumbbell rows and planks.” Familiarise yourself with the equipment. Booking an introductory session at your gym can help you feel more confident using the equipment. ”Knowing how to use the equipment builds confidence and ensures safety," the personal trainer explains. Wear empowering clothes. If you're feeling nervous, wear workout clothes that make you feel good and comfortable, as this can give you an extra boost of confidence. Choose off-peak hours. Try to avoid the busiest times at the gym to ensure you're not rushed and have your own space. Practice your power poses. ”Research shows that standing tall with open body language boosts confidence. Take a minute in the locker room to stand tall, with your shoulders back and hands on your hips, breathing deeply.” Instructions: THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
