Green Party leader Zack Polanski has said he will not accept anyone being excluded from the party because of their religion or community, following criticism of a motion declaring Zionism a form of racism. The motion, backed by members at the party's Brighton conference, defines Zionism as supporting an "ethnonationalist Jewish state” and calls for a single democratic Palestinian state across what it describes as historic Palestine. Polanski said nobody should be made unwelcome because of their background, faith or place of worship. More than a dozen Labour MPs have reported the Greens to the equality watchdog, saying the motion raises serious questions. Nine Labour MPs have also asked Sussex Police to investigate alleged possible antisemitic offences at the conference.
