Caption: Airbus Cuts 20-Year Jet Demand Forecast Amid Iran War and Trade Tensions. Airbus has cut its 20-year forecast for global passenger aircraft demand by 1%, citing the economic fallout from the Iran war and trade tensions that have slowed the aviation sector's recovery. The European planemaker now expects airlines to take delivery of 42,060 passenger jets between 2026 and 2045, including 33,920 single-aisle aircraft and 8,140 wide-body jets. Although Airbus slightly raised its projection for air traffic growth to 3.9%, it said the industry is adapting to higher fuel costs, innovation and greater operational efficiency. The company expects nearly half of future aircraft deliveries to replace aging fleets rather than support airline expansion. Airbus also revised regional outlooks, raising its forecast for India's rapidly growing aviation market while lowering expectations for China amid slower economic growth. The Middle East is expected to recover more strongly than previously forecast despite the disruption caused by the Iran conflict and the region's fragile ceasefire.
