Caption: South Korea Urges Russia to Remove ‘Victory’ Banner Ahead of War Anniversary. South Korea has formally asked the Embassy of Russia in Seoul to remove a large banner reading “Victory will be ours,” displayed on its outer wall in central Seoul. According to South Korea’s foreign ministry, concerns were conveyed to the embassy just days before the fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The roughly 15-meter banner, styled in the colors of the Russian flag, remained in place as of Monday. Seoul reiterated its position that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is illegal and also condemned growing military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, calling it a serious threat to regional security and a violation of U.N. resolutions. Earlier this month, Russian Ambassador Georgy Zinoviev reportedly praised North Korean troops fighting alongside Russian forces in the Kursk region. Under a 2024 defense pact, North Korea is believed to have sent around 14,000 soldiers to support Russia’s war effort. The Russian embassy has not yet publicly responded.
