Headline: RAW VIDEO: Meet The New British Missile System Disguised As A Shipping Container To Fool Russia
Caption: This cleverly camouflaged bit of kit is in fact the targeting and tracking System for the Gravehawk Mobile Air Defence System. Designed to resemble an ordinary shipping container on a truck, it was unveiled at RAF Northolt on Wednesday (12February2025) and will now head to Ukraine. The Gravehawk system is intended primarily to engage small drones and cruise missiles that threaten Ukrainian forces and cities. Guided by passive infrared, the system is designed to not be as visible to Russian forces as longer range surface to air missile batteries which can be located when active by tracing their radar emissions. The tracking system works off a camera located on top of the container, it identifies the threat and then passes the information to the missile. The system is also designed to use air-to-air missiles that are already in Ukraine's arsenal. It can retrofit air-to-air missiles for ground launches. The system can use Ukrainian missiles to shoot down Russian missiles and drones. By being easily mobile and difficult to spot when travelling, it can complement Ukraine's existing air defence systems.
